Skoda Fabia Combi: The practical
Already with the start of the new model generation, it was announced that the XL-Fabia, known as the Combi, would not be available much longer. The previous model was originally intended to run until the end of 2022, but it has already disappeared from the model catalog on the website. Instead, Skoda announces the compact SUV Kamiq or the slightly larger Scala.
Renault Scénic: Family friend
At the end of 1996, the car world was upside down: After the larger Espace already in the 80s made the van segment socially acceptable, followed a compact van, Scénic, which a year later was named Car of the Year and became the first successful model in its class. Design and usability went well together here and the Scénic became a popular car for many families. It was only later that brands like Opel and VW followed suit with their own models. But the triumphs of the SUVs had recently made it difficult for this segment as well, so that the French stopped producing Scénic in May, according to “Auto Motor und Sport”. The larger Grand Scénic is still freely configurable. The question is how much longer.
Ford Fiesta: no more three doors
Other brands have shown it, now Ford is following in the footsteps of the Fiesta this summer: it will no longer be available as a three-door model. It was similar to the VW Polo or Opel Corsa – more and more customers thought the solution with the folding front seat was impractical and opted for the more pragmatic variant with five doors.
More cars without successors
- The Nissan GT-R sports car, affectionately known by fans as the “Godzilla”, also says goodbye: it is too loud for the stricter European rules.
- Renault erases the talisman, which only sold sluggishly here.
- Seat takes the Alhambra family car out of the program after at least twelve years of construction; the identical VW Sharan will also no longer be available.
- Alfa Romeo Giulietta, Smart Forfour, Mazda CX-3, VW Passat sedan and more have also disappeared from the market.
