Internet giant Google is entering the car trade. The technology company has launched a service to buy new and used cars.
For most home customers, car purchases begin online. There, dealers and private individuals present a large number of new and used cars via platforms such as mobile.de or autoscout24, which can then be filtered according to different criteria. A petrol SUV with a maximum mileage of 150,000 kilometers, less than ten years old, in blue or silver, with heated seats and hands-free systems? No problem – the search can be set in a fairly detailed way.
Search for keywords
So it should not really surprise us that the internet giant Google of all wants to get involved in this game. After all, “searching for things on the Internet” is a core competency of the American group in the popular perception, which is now even manifested in the newly created verb “google”. Now a feature has been released in the US that allows interested parties to get relevant ads directly through the Google search with keywords such as “since” and “2018”. By clicking on these search results, you will come to the supplier’s vehicle information page, where you can contact them directly.
But if you want to take advantage of this as a vehicle supplier, you must become active yourself and register. Google then provides an interface through which a specified amount of data must be transmitted for each vehicle. This includes year of manufacture, model designation, mileage and segment. The service is currently offered in the United States only, for commercial dealers only, and for used cars and pickups only. Commercial vehicles, motorhomes, boats, motorcycles and the like are not currently included. However, an expansion to markets outside the US is planned. Incidentally, the service is not free for resellers. Prices vary depending on different parameters, which is also the case with other product ads that are issued as separate offers by the search engine. The clickthrough rate or the size of the competitive environment plays a role here.
If you do not want to wait until the search function for car purchases is also available in Germany, IN THIS ARTICLE you will find immediately available leasing bargains without waiting. You can find out how the market for used cars in Germany is currently developing in the slideshow at the top of the article.
Yes, that’s how I get a little closer to cars I could never afford.
No, it gives me nothing.
Google indirectly enters used cars. In the future, retailers will enter their offers in a data interface with the internet giant, so that they can then be displayed directly as an advertisement when there are corresponding search queries. So far, the service is only active in the US, but there are plans to expand it to other markets.
