What is the cheapest car 2022?
If you start from a completely normal car according to vehicle class M1, you are the undisputed leader in the German market Dacia Sandero, available in the third generation from 8,990 euros. This low-budget offer is made possible by the fact that the Romanian carmaker belongs to the Renault group and has access to Clio’s technology. While the predecessor to the current Sandero was still based on the old Clio generation, Dacia now has access to the Renault Group’s current small car platform – including engines, connectivity and assistance systems. Therefore, the original competitive price of 6,990 euros has been increased by as much as 2,000 euros. The Romanian small car is still unbeatably cheap. As a leasing vehicle, it is available from as little as 83 euros per month.
Sandero is 4.08 meters long, including the exterior mirrors 2.01 meters wide and 1.49 meters high and has front-wheel drive as standard. The two cheaper lines “Access” and “Essential” come with 5-speed or 6-speed manual transmission. The “Comfort” equipment line is also available as a TCe 90 CVT with automatic transmission. But then the customer no longer needs to put really cheap 13,950.00 euros on the table. The luggage compartment on the Sandero holds 328 liters. If the rear seats are removed, it takes it up to an impressive 1,108 liters. The height of the load threshold is not really low at 74.1 cm, which definitely requires a little muscle power when loading. The trunk is 102 cm wide. The roof load contributes 80 kg, the maximum vertical load 75 kg.
Tips for motorhome fans: Even the smallest SCE 65 drive with 67 hp has a maximum towing capacity of 980 kilos. So you can definitely pull a smaller caravan with it. Dacia Sandero Stepway (available for 13,050 euros) can even pull 1,100 kilos. Those who value a little extra as air conditioning or electric windows must at least take to the highest equipment line “Comfort” with a 91 hp engine and five-speed gearbox, which starts at 12,650 euros.
The only competitor in this price category: The Mitsubishi Space Star (combined fuel consumption: 4.5-4.7 l / 100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 102-108 g / km²), which is a time-limited offer from the Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi until April 30, 2022 to a price of 9,490 euros. As a leasing car, it can be obtained for as little as 80 euros per month. The basic version, which regularly costs 11,490 euros, offers the Japanese with six airbags, light and rain sensors and back-start assistance. Unfortunately, the customer has to do without air conditioning, central locking or sound system – the price-conscious customer has to make do with “radio preparations”. The pure three-cylinder natural suction engine with a cylinder volume of 1.2 liters takes the small car to a maximum of 71 hp, which is transferred to the manual 5-speed gearbox or the steplessly variable CVT automatic. In addition to the standard “Basic” equipment, there are the “Plus” and “Top” equipment lines.
